Wimberley started as an empty trading post settlement near Cypress Creek in 1848. With the addition of a series of mills, Wimberley grew past a post office into Wimberleyville. The community then continued to develop into the resort town it is today.
Wimberley is popular with tourists and residents alike for the cool shade of its cypress-lined streams, a laid-back atmosphere, and year-round events. The little town always has something going on from the challenges of Quicksand Golf Course to its shops and galleries, live theater (including Shakespeare Under the Stars), the annual VFW rodeo and Christmas Trail of Lights.
